Strong Women Thrive Summit Set for Rye, New York

A Weekend of Discovery for Women Touched by Cancer
Not all cancer patients are as fortunate as Lance Armstrong, coming back from cancer to win a record 7th Tour de France. Many people have difficulties coping and communicating when cancer is diagnosed within their family. For some, the isolation, emotional stress and financial hardships of dealing with a diagnosis are overwhelming.
LLuminari, the health and wellness experts, and Stonyfield Farm, an organic yogurt maker, are holding a series of Stonyfield Farm StrongWomen Summits™ the next of which will be at held at the beautiful Doral Arrowwood in Rye Brook, New York, November 4-5.
Women of all ages who have cancer, have survived cancer, or who are caring for a loved one with cancer will gather to rediscover their own strength-- body, mind, and spirit. The “Stonyfield Farm StrongWomen Thrive” Summit is a weekend-long event designed to educate, inspire, and nurture women toward developing their own inner strengths to make positive connections and changes in their lives.
“Typically, women are the caregivers and the healers, keeping their own needs hidden. But, with a cancer diagnosis for themselves or a loved one, women need support in learning self-coping strategies and self-nurturing skills to become stronger to face challenges and to enhance their personal well being,” said Dr. Miriam Nelson, Strong Women Summit Founder and author of the new book, Strong Women, Strong Hearts.
Highlights include:

  • Guidance for healthier living from best-selling author Dr. Mehmet C. Oz, co-author of You, The Owner###s Manual.
  • Heart-to-heart conversations with the original Strong Woman and conference leader Dr. Miriam Nelson. A Tufts University researcher and author of the best-selling Strong Women book series; she will present “Foolproof Strategies for Weight Loss.”

Entrepreneur, Elizabeth Browning, founder and chief executive officer of LLuminari, an innovative health education company co-founded with Dr. Susan Love and Dr. Nancy Snyderman, will share her personal story of re-invention at midlife. “The summits are a wonderful opportunity for LLuminari, Stonyfield Farm and the other sponsors, GlaxoSmithKline, Newman’s Own, and Health Magazine to bring women together in a proactive, caring environment to focus on many facets of wellness, apostrophe said Browning.
